Service Description

###**EXAM DETAILS:** *Written Exam:* - Written Exam Required - Open Book Written Exam. - Allowed up to 2 Hours to Complete the Written Exam. *Proficiency Exam:* Proficiency Exam Required. The Trainee will take a proficiency examination and is expected to correctly demonstrate skills in measurement of surface tolerance, cross slope and nuclear density. The Trainee has two chances to pass each test. Two failures in one area will constitute failure of the proficiency examination. ###**COURSE OBJECTIVE:** To assure test results used for quality control, verification, dispute resolution and acceptance of asphalt pavements are performed in accordance with the standard test methods. ###**COURSE SUBJECT MATTER:** - Practice for Random Sampling of Construction Materials (ASTM D3665) - Rolling Straight Edge - Core Sampling and Temperature Measurement ​ - Density of Soils and Bituminous Concrete Mixtures in Place by the Nuclear Method (FM 1-T-238) ###**QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:** *Initial Requirements:* - Pass Paving Level 1 Written Exam - Pass Paving Level 1 Proficiency Exam *Re-Qualification Requirements:* - Same as Initial Requirements Asphalt Paving Level 1 is automatically re-qualified, as long as Asphalt Paving Level 2 is kept current and unexpired. CANCELLATION OR RESCHEDULE BY STUDENT FOR ANY CLASS: If a student cancels or reschedules prior to seven (7) calendar days before their scheduled class, a refund in the form of a credit will be issued for the purpose of rescheduling at a later date. The credit will expire one year after the date of the original class date. The credit expiration date is a onetime extension. If a student cancels or reschedules seven (7) calendar days or less before any scheduled class or does not show up to a scheduled class, a fee of 50% of the full price of the class will be deducted from the total paid and the remaining balance will be available in the form of a credit that will expire one year from the date of the original class date. Valid reasons for cancellations of any class or exam/proficiency would include, but not limited to, weather conditions or lack of student registration. If the decision to cancel any class/exam/proficiency is made, A&SW will notify the contact person responsible for registering the student via email or phone. A&SW will not be responsible for any costs incurred for lodging or travel expenses.
